| The Company we Keep |
We don't make the signals. We just make them louder.

THE END OF "INDEPENDENT" |
Nowadays, the word "Independent"
carries less weight than a balsa wood ice-cream tasting
spoon. 10 years ago maybe it meant something.
But it no longer describes anything about
the origins of content; it's a genre, a style, a filter.
But in the same decade the term Independent drained
of its meaning, a new technology emerged that actually
enabled creative people to remain in control of their
ideas, their business and, in many ways, their artistic
destiny.* That technology is the Internet and with it
creative people are expressing ideas
that can draw thousands, even millions of people to their
websites.

THE AUDIENCE IS WAITING
(TO PLACE MORE ORDERS) |
Those with a large
enough audience can begin to subsidize their self-expression. And
that is where the virtuous feedback loop begins. The
more you express, the more your audience buys. The more
your audience buys, the more they enable you to keep
expressing. The more you keep expressing, the larger
your audience can grow.
A number of people have already figured this out. They've
turned their giant audiences into a massive distributed
network of micro-patrons. Amplifier knows all about these
self-sustaining creative types. We call them "Undependents™." They're
so named because they simply do not depend upon a traditional
gatekeeper for access to an audience. They're truly free
from the distortions of the traditional main stream media.
If you're reading this and happen to be an Undependent
already, then Amplifier has a message for you. We were
made for you. And we're coming for you. You could make
our job and your life a lot easier by cutting the chase
out entirely and going straight to the altar. Let it
be known right now that we're coming for you. The only
hope you have of stopping us is a Restraining Order,
and believe us, we've beat that rap before. |
